Kremlin: Russian business unable to fight for foreign assets

MOSCOW, Oct 24 (PRIME) -- The Russian business has found itself unable to protect its interests in Western courts, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Monday.

"We must acknowledge that the fact that the Western states deny our entrepreneurs even the right to contest such decisions in courts means that the room for further moves is very limited, of course. But this does not mean that we will not do anything," Peskov said.

The official also said that very many Russian assets, including foreign currency and gold reserves, were stolen by the collective West.

European Commissioner for Justice Didier Reynders said earlier that the E.U. froze 17.4 billion euros of assets of the Russian business, and the funds were distributed across the union unevenly. The E.U. leaders asked the European Commission last week to prepare proposals to finance Ukraine's reconstruction with the frozen Russian funds.
